Crystal Palace Slam UEFA after being denied the place of the Europa League before the court

Crystal Palace criticized UEFA and the Sports Arbitration Court (CAS) after their appeal against demotion to the Europa Conference League was rejected.
The club had challenged UEFA’s decision to withdraw them from the Europa League on multi-club property rules but did not cancel the case decision on Monday.
Consequently, Palace will participate in the third level European competition of the coming season.
UEFA noted that the Eagle football group was majority owners of Lyon, while the president of Palace, John Textor, had held a majority participation in the side of London at the time of the evaluation in March.
The Director Body considered this a violation of its property regulations, with Nottingham Forest – which finished seventh in the Premier League last season – to replace the Palais in the Europa League.
In response, Palace suggested that “certain clubs, organizations and individuals” held “a unique privilege and power”, while questioning the equity of the call process.
“At a time when we should celebrate our victory in the community shield at Wembley, UEFA’s decision and followed by the Arbitration Court for Sport shows that sporting merit is made without meaning.
“When we won the FA Cup against Manchester City that day in May, our manager and our players won the right to play Europa League football. We refused this opportunity.
“It seems that some clubs, organizations and individuals have unique privilege and power.
“This growing and unhealthy influence has broken the hopes and dreams of Crystal Palace supporters, and does not bode well for the ambitious teams of all Europe in competition to progress when the rules and sanctions are applied unevenly in the most blatant way.
“Multi-club structures hide behind the Charade of” blind confidence “while clubs like ours, which have no connection with another club, are prevented from playing in the same competition.
“To worsen injustice, clubs that seem to have huge informal arrangements with each other are also allowed to participate and even play against each other.
“Although we respect the members of the case court, the process is designed to restrict seriously and, in our case, make almost impossible to receive a fair hearing.
“The refusal of all requests for disclosure to obtain correspondence between the parties concerned, the refusal to authorize the testimonies of the witnesses of the persons involved, and the general lack of formality and respect for the average decisions of the law cannot be properly challenged, leading to predetermined results.
“UEFA’s decision has broader implications for sport governance. A combination of poorly designed regulations and their unequal application means that our brilliant fans will be deprived of the possibility of seeing this team compete in the Europa League for the first time in our history.
“It should be a turning point for football. UEFA must fulfill its mandate to adopt coherent rules which are properly communicated and applied, with reasonable healing periods to resolve uncertainty and coherent sanctions, treating all clubs also with an appropriate call process.
“The European Court of Justice has clearly indicated that decisions similar to it will be the subject of a more in-depth examination of the national courts in the future. It is only then that fairness and regular procedure will be granted to each team.
“Although we continue to take legal advice on the next steps, we will participate in the league of the conference with the same determination and the desire to win that characterizes this incredible club.”
