Duet Night Abyss employs two protagonists and their dual perspectives to deliver a complex story full of action and adventure. You can choose the male or female main character as Phoxhunter to embark on a journey through a war-torn land, initially guided by Berenica. The counterpart then becomes the Boy/Girl in the Dream, through whom we perceive the other side of the conflict.
The dual perspective system naturally leads one to wonder if it is possible to change the gender of the protagonists later in the campaign. The short answer is no. Changing gender in Duet Night Abyss wouldn’t really change the story progression, which is why PAN Studio left this feature out of the game.
What genre to choose in Duet Night Abyss?
As specified, Duet Night Abyss features a two-protagonist setup. You choose the male or female character to be Phoxhunter (the playable version). The counterpart becomes this dreamlike entity that appears at a specific interval during the story. You can freely choose between the boy or the girl depending on your preferences.
The choice here will not affect the story in any way. Unfortunately, there is no gender change feature at the time of writing, so whichever Phoxhunter you select at the start of the campaign is permanent. This shouldn’t be a problem given that the characters share the same moveset and dialogue options. There is basically no difference between the two.
As for Boy/Girl in the Dream, they will accompany you throughout your journey. Think of them as the voices in your head.

Duet Night Abyss is Pan Studio’s latest action RPG, set in the war-torn lands of Atlasia. It features fast-paced combat with unique Daimons capable of dual-wielding weapons. There is no gacha system for characters and their equipment, so you can obtain them by grinding content in the game.
