Neighboring countries hold their first direct meeting as part of a regional peace effort.
Fighting has intensified between Cambodia and Thailand, forcing hundreds of thousands of civilians to flee their homes on both sides of the neighboring countries’ border.
Today, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is leading efforts to end the violence and reach a peace agreement.

All this comes after US President Donald Trump’s failed attempt to end the war.
Thai and Cambodian foreign ministers are expected to meet in the coming days in the hope of achieving what Thailand called a “genuine ceasefire.”
But without any respite from this long-running conflict, what will it take to end it?
