Cabinet extends the Svanidhi PM program until 2030, approves the expenses of 7,332 rupes of rupes

In a major boost for urban street sellers, the Union’s cabinet approved Tuesday the restructuring and extension of the Prime Minister AtmaniNbhar Nidhi (PM Svanidhi) program beyond its previous deadline of December 31, 2024. Participants.
The decision, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is one of the wider efforts of the government to improve financial inclusion, digital adoption and socio-economic empowerment of street sellers across the country.
Expanded loan structure
As part of the restructured framework, street sellers will have access to improved loans. The first slice loan was increased to 15,000 rupees (earlier from Rs 10,000), and the second tranche at 25,000 rupees (20,000 RS), while the third tranche remains unchanged at Rs 50,000.
The beneficiaries who successfully reimburse the second loan will also be eligible for a RUPAY credit card linked to the UPI, providing them with immediate access to credit for commercial and personal needs.
To promote digital adoption, the government has also introduced cashback incentives up to 1,600 ₹ for street sellers who make retail transactions and numerically large.

While the program initially covered legal cities, its scope will now extend to include census cities, peri -urban areas and other areas identified gradually.
Beyond financial support, the restructured plan highly emphasizes training in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, digital skills and marketing support. In partnership with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), dedicated food and food safety training sessions will also be provided for street food sellers.
Well-being beyond credit
The component “Svanidhi se Samriddhi”, aimed at ensuring holistic well-being for sellers and their families, will be further strengthened. Lok Kalyan Melas will be organized to help street sellers access various government well-being regimes thanks to a saturation approach, ensuring that the advantages reach all eligible households.
Background
Launched on June 1, 2020, following the Pandemic COVID-19, Prime Minister Svanidhi was designed to provide lending from working funds without guarantee to street vendors who had undergone serious economic setbacks.
Since its creation, the scheme has gone far beyond its initial objective. As of July 30, 2025, more than 96 Lakh loans worth 13,797 crores were spent from 68 sellers from rue Lakh. Nearly 47 beneficiaries have adopted digital payments, making more than 557 crore transactions worth 6.09 Core Lakh and winning 241 crore of ₹ in money rewards.
The social protection component has also made significant progress, profiling 46 Lakh beneficiaries in 3,564 urban local organizations (ULB) and allowing sanctions of 1.38 crores under various government initiatives.
