Busta Rhymes Loses His Cool Over Young Streamer Who Called Him Tracy Morgan

Rapper Rhymes Busta made headlines overnight when two videos of him appearing to check on banners that appeared to be trolling him went viral. Rhymes, real name Trevor George Smith Jr., was in attendance at an arts event in Miami, Florida, when he found himself in an awkward situation not once, but twice, sparking outrage from the rapper and divided responses from fans online.

In the video, obtained by TMZ, Rhymes let loose on a young streamer after he called the rap legend “Tracy Morgan” at Art Basel in Miami.
“Wait, what did you say?” Rhymes could be heard in the video. “Put your camera down,” he told the streamer’s friends around them.
Rhymes expressed his frustration, implying that he felt disrespected because he was trying to “show love” by taking photos.
“…and you’re trying to be funny…You don’t mess with a grown man, little boy. That’s how people get fucked up,” he said.

But the tense interaction didn’t stop there. Rhymes pressed further, demanding that the young streamer explain his actions.
“I’m asking you a question, I’m not challenging you,” he said. “I don’t understand. …That’s the only way I can understand, is by asking questions.”
Rhymes asked if the streamer was “trying to be funny,” to which he responded, “Everyone said Tracy, so I said Tracy.”
The moment lasted a little longer before the streamer walked away, leaving everyone around them stunned by the exchange.

Busta Rhymes squeezes another streamer after telling him to ‘stay black’
In another incident, Rhymes clashed with another streamer who told the “Break Ya Neck” rapper to “stay black” before heading to the event.
“So what else am I supposed to be? Are you a clown too now?” Rhymes asked the man, to which he responded by explaining that the phrase was his catchphrase. “Damn, you mean ‘stay black?’ I don’t know this slogan. Don’t tell me. I’m not kidding you.”

Fans share mixed reactions to Rhymes’ outbursts
It didn’t take long for social media users to rally around the viral incidents, generating mixed reactions. According to one user, in the viral clip, Rhymes looked like Morgan. Another user said: “He’s not too far.”
Others joined in on the joke, with one writing: “Well now I can’t unsee it, Busta Morgan,” while another shared: “I didn’t realize how similar they were.”
A handful of other social media users shared differing opinions, saying Rhymes handled the situations poorly.
“These celebs are too comfortable,” someone posted, while another said: “I would have kept talking.”
On X, some social media users praised the 53-year-old for standing his ground.
“This is what needs to happen EVERY TIME you play with people for a certain commitment,” someone posted.

Rhymes honored with Visionary Award in 2025

Aside from the uncomfortable situations Rhymes found himself in outside of Art Basel in Miami, the rapper had a few accomplishments to celebrate in 2025, including his Rock the Bells Visionary Award at the VMAs.
According to Rhymes, receiving this award was a special feeling for him because of the hard work he has put in over the years to be considered one of the best.
“It’s one thing to have a vision when you were a fan, and you were still in the single digits, and you were [babysat] “Because your mom and dad went out of their way to make sure you had everything you needed, and you fell in love with this thing,” he said. “And you just thought one day, by the grace of God, you might have a chance to be a part of this.”

Rhymes got candid when talking about finally getting the chance to do what he loved most and making the most of his opportunity.
“…then you have to be better than the win that you got and better than that win that you got. So having those visions that are constant, and then you finally get to that place where you go from being a kid to now you’re shooting towards a 35-year career legacy,” he said.
