Bouncing again – bionicoldguy

I have been under antibiotics for bacterial infection since yesterday noon, and from previous experience, it should make me feel better quickly. I refer to the symptoms that I reported in my last post. It turned out that I didn’t feel better last Monday, but he was almost sure that it was, so I sent a message to my doctor. He sent me a test on the same day and we got the results on Wednesday. This is quick for the medical system these days, he can take weeks to see a specialist, but fortunately, I didn’t need to see him in person, and he responds very quickly to messages.

/ * TMI alert

The following paragraph can be TMI on medical problems for some, so do not hesitate to jump it.

This turned out to be a recurrence of the urinary tract infection that I had in 2021. I had no problem with this area of my anatomy since then because of a procedure that I suffered in 2022. After this infection cycle was expelled in a few days, I will follow my doctor (urologist) to discover what went wrong. It is possible that one or more clips installed in the Urolift procedure has undone, which can be fixed in an unvasive monitoring procedure. Alternatively, I could undergo a slightly more involved procedure like Turp could be done, which would be more permanent. We will see what my urologist thinks. What will be, will be.

It was a week not to feel 100% now. Meanwhile, I was able to make easy 30-minute walks most of the time, with a short session each strength training for the lower body and upper body, which is good to maintain the force through a short period like this. I will soon feel good enough to start accelerating time. But going through things like it always makes me rethink things. I did too much my hard training. I talked about polarized training in the past, but my favorite interpretation of it is the basic rule of Clarence Bass “I walk and sprint, I do nothing between the two”. For him, this results in lively walks most of the time, a short but intense force formation 1 day and a short cardio but intense another. In my case, I should be easy to drive a little longer the time, supplemented by infrequent intense training days (with strength training and intervals and sprints on the bicycle). This is what I always start. But over time, I move away from this, being tempted to push the pace on the easy days or to extend what should be the short intense days. Time for reset.

Above all, I must keep in mind that the main objective of easier rides is relaxation. This is fun illustrated in this YouTube video that I found on the channel “A bike to escape”:

The discussion on easy cycling for relaxation is fun, and the landscape in the Netherlands is magnificent and the infrastructure of Dutch cycling incredible. But “flowering where you are planted”, I can find a similar relaxation on cycle paths or quieter roads near me.
