A rare blend of charm, strength and sensitivity, Dharmendra defined an era where action meets emotion. His chemistry with Hema Malini, on and off screen, remains one of the most iconic love stories in Bollywood.

Dharmendra’s first triumph in the world of entertainment came through a talent hunt organized by Filmfare. This encouraged him to move to Mumbai to try his hand at films as a lead actor.
Dharmendra got his first big break in Arjun Hingorani My heart is mine, we are mine (1960). But his first big success came in the form of Shola and Shabnam (1961). He followed with Anpadh (1962) and the Bimal Roy classic Bandini (1963). From there, he continued to deliver timeless classics, including Reality, Sholay, shut up, shut up, Satyakam, Anupama, Dharam VeerAnd The burning traineach performance highlighting a different facet of his profession.
Beyond his fame, he was admired for his humility, his warmth and his poetic soul. He is survived by his wife Hema Malini, his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, his daughters Esha and Ahana Deol and his grandchildren.
