Charlie Coyle scored the game-winning goal in the fourth round of a shootout as the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the host Seattle Kraken 2-1 on Tuesday.

Adam Fantilli scored in regulation and goaltender Jet Greaves made 22 saves as the Blue Jackets saved the final of a five-game road trip (1-3-1).

Ryan Winterton scored for Seattle and goaltender Matt Murray stopped 33 of 34 shots.

Both teams scored a goal on the first three shootout attempts. In round 4, Greaves made a save as Kaapo Kakko tried to beat him between the pads, then Coyle fired a shot off the crossbar and into the net for the winner.

The Kraken opened the scoring at 16:43 of the first period thanks to its fourth line. Ben Meyers split two defenders as he drove to the net, then returned a backhand pass to Winterton in the high slot for a wrist shot that slipped inside the left post.

It was Winterton’s second career goal – and his second in as many home games. Jamie Oleksiak had a secondary pass.

The score remained 1-0 until late in the second period, when the Blue Jackets gained a 5-on-3 advantage with Seattle’s Eeli Tolvanen (trip) and Ryan Lindgren (cross-check) in the box.

Murray lost his stick in a scramble near the left post, and Columbus quickly moved the puck to Fantilli for a snap shot from the top of the opposite faceoff circle. Murray turned from his back and got his glove on the puck, but couldn’t keep it out of the net at 18:22.

Kirill Marchenko extended his point streak to nine games with an assist, and Sean Monahan was also credited with an assist.

Murray was making his second straight start, and first at home as a member of the Kraken, with Joey Daccord (upper body) on the injured list.

Columbus forward Boone Jenner suffered an upper-body injury in the second half and did not return.
