Ben Stiller believes that comedy should never stop challenging the status quo, even in an age where speaking freely has become more complicated.

“We live in a world where taking risks with comedy is more difficult,” Stiller said.

“That’s what we’re seeing in our country. But I think it’s important that comedians continue to do what they do, speak truth to power and be free to say whatever they want. That’s the most important thing.”

His comments come as the entertainment industry continues to debate the limits of free speech in comedy.

Stiller also highlighted social media as another major challenge in modern comedy, expressing concern that the fast-paced nature of platforms like TikTok and Instagram make it harder for audiences to stay engaged.

“You have things that are released very quickly to a wide audience,” he said. “I think we’ve narrowed our attention span a little bit. I feel lucky to have grown up in the analog world.”

As one of Hollywood’s most recognizable comedic voices, Stiller has seen how humor has evolved over the decades.
