Bangladesh softens visas to stimulate trade with Pakistan

Lahore: The High Commissioner of Bangladesh Muhammad Iqbal Hussain Khan said that visa requirements for Pakistani citizens have recently been simplified to promote bilateral trade and cultural exchanges.
During a visit to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the High Commissioner stressed the importance of regular trade delegation exchanges to explore new opportunities and improve market understanding between the two countries. He added that efforts are underway to introduce an electronic visa installation for Pakistani nationals in the future.
Stressing Bangladesh’s interest in strengthening economic ties, the envoy has identified potential trade areas, including exports of coconut and bangladesh coal, and leather, meat, rice, sugar, fish and charcoal exports from Pakistan. He also noted that direct flights and shipping routes between the two nations are being studied to improve commercial connectivity.
The president of the LCCI, Mian Abuzar Shad, assured the high commissioner of the full support of the Chamber to advance trade and investment relations. “Our doors are always open to facilitating businesses and sharing business-related information,” he said.
