NEW DELHI: Ayush Badoni received his maiden ODI call-up on Monday after being named as a replacement for Washington Sundar, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing three-match series against New Zealand due to a strain in his lower left rib region.Badoni completed his training at the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bangalore on Monday ahead of the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy match in Delhi when he received the news.

The youngster immediately left the state camp to join the Indian team in Rajkot ahead of the second ODI scheduled for Wednesday.India currently leads the three-match series 1-0 after registering a victory in the first ODI in Vadodara on Sunday. The teams will next face each other on Wednesday at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, before the series concludes at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on January 18.Following Badoni’s first India call-up, a video of him singing at the team’s request went viral on social media. The clip shows Badoni singing the popular song ‘Pehli Nazar Mein’ from the film Race after being invited by Rishabh Pant.WATCH: Ayush Badoni starts singing at the request of Rishabh PantBadoni has had a strong domestic season and boasts an impressive first-class batting average of 57.96. In List A cricket, he featured in 27 matches, scoring runs at an average of 36.47.The 24-year-old has also shown leadership qualities at the domestic level, having captained Delhi and been Rishabh Pant’s deputy during the team’s ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign.Badoni’s call-up, however, means he will miss Delhi’s crucial Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final against Vidarbha, which is scheduled to be played on Tuesday.
