Australian ACMA blocks 12 illegal gambling sites

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has asked the country’s internet service providers to block more illegal online gaming sites.

A total of 12 sites have been requested to be blocked, as the ACMA says investigations revealed these services were operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

The latest blocked sites include: Abu King, BetAlice, Dragon Slots, Nova Jackpot, Power Up Casino, QuickWin, Roby Casino, Rocketspin, Rooster Bet, Vegasino, Vegas Now and Winbay.

This control strategy, website blocking, is one of the options used by the ACMA to protect Australians from illegal online gambling. Since the authority filed its first blocking request in November 2019, 1,455 illegal gaming sites and affiliated sites have been blocked.

Since the ACMA began enforcing new rules on illegal online gaming in 2017, around 220 illegal services have also withdrawn from the Australian market.

ACMA in Australia warns consumers about illegal gambling sites

The ACMA would like to remind consumers that even if a service appears legitimate, it is unlikely to offer significant protection to customers. They say this means Australians who use illegal gambling services risk losing their money.

The regulator has an online registry where people can check whether a betting service is allowed to operate in the country.

It was only last month, in November, that the ACMA announced it had requested a further nine websites be blocked. These include Cashed, King Maker, Posido, Spinight, Spinsy, next2go-au.com (which has been described as being a knockoff of the Next2Go licensed service), The Pokies Reviews, Topio Networks and wizbet.app which is also a knockoff of the WizBet licensed service.

Going back further, in October 2025, seven websites were announced as being blocked and five were named in the September announcement. The ACMA publishes regular updates regarding blocking illegal gambling sites.
