Australia Plays XI vs India – 1st ODI, India Tour of Australia 2025:
Openers: Mitchell Marsh (c), Travis Head
Australia would like to get things back on track after a disappointing performance in the ODI series against South Africa at home and register a victory in the first ODI against India in Perth.
The selectors have named a strong squad for this particular series, which marks the return of some key players both in batting and bowling.

The biggest name finding a place in the ODI squad to face India is experienced fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who recently announced his retirement from T20I cricket and plays only one white-ball format.
Another in-form player who has been included in the squad is young fast bowling all-rounder Mitchell Owen, who will add power and depth to the batting line-up.
Australia will open the match with Mitchell Marsh, who also happens to be the team captain for this particular series in the absence of Pat Cummins, and will be accompanied by Travis Head.
Both hitters will look to get the team off to a good start while playing aggressively, which they are known for.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Josh Philippe (week), Tim David, Matthew Short, Cameron Green, Mitchell Owen
The opening duo will be followed by a middle order which will see the return of promising all-rounder Mitchell Owen, who was not part of the last ODI series the Australians played against South Africa.
The team management would like Owen to get back into rhythm and capitalize on the good start to his international career.
While Owen will bat at number six or seven, the top five in the Australian batting order will be Josh Philipe, Tim David and Cameron Green.
The home team would bank their top five batters to play the majority of overs batting or chasing in order to increase their chances of winning.
Although Australia’s batting extends to number one, they would like specialist hitters to do the job and not rely on Mitchell Starc, who is more powerful with the bat in Test cricket.
Bowlers: Mitchell Starc, Xavier Bartlett, Matthew Kuhnemann, Josh Hazlewood
The hosts will be boosted by the return of Mitchell Starc, who will feature in an ODI game after some time.
Starc will be paired with another experienced fast bowler, Josh Hazlewood, who is expected to take the new ball along with Starc.
The Kangaroos also have some young pacesetters in the lineup in the form of Xavier Bartlett and Mitchell Owen, who will fill the fast bowling all-rounder role.
As for the team’s spin bowling department, it will be handled by Matthew Kuhemann, with Matthew Shot and Travis Head being the other two spin bowling options.
