Astronomer’s Former HR Chief Blames Gwyneth Paltrow for Mocking Kiss Cam Scandal

Astronomer’s former HR head spoke out for the first time since the incident, and one of her talking points was calling Paltrow a “hypocrite” for allowing herself to be used by the company as a temporary spokesperson.

Kristin Cabot also dove into other details about the scandal, including how she believes she took responsibility for her actions by resigning from her position at Astronomer.

Speaking for the first time since her kiss cam incident this summer, Cabot called out Paltrow, whom her former employers hired as a temporary spokesperson when the scandal was trending.

Paltrow, who was previously married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, appeared in a humorous commercial for the company, in which she appeared to take the situation lightly.

Although many may have found the ad funny, Cabot did not share the same view and felt like the actress was making fun of her ordeal.

“I was such a fan of her company, which seemed to be about uplifting women,” Cabot said. The times in a new interview. “And then she did this. I thought, ‘How dare she, after the beating she took for all this conscious uncoupling stuff?’ What a hypocrite.”

Cabot’s reference to Paltrow’s “uncoupling stuff” dates back to the actress’ split from Martin in 2014, which she described as “conscious uncoupling” at the time.

In a separate interview with the New York TimesCabot opened up about how she felt about being a public spectacle following the kiss-cam incident.

“I was so embarrassed and so horrified,” Cabot told the outlet, referring to how she was caught canoodling with Byron at the Coldplay concert in Boston.

“I’m the HR manager and he’s the CEO. It’s so cliché and so bad,” she added.

Cabot also revealed that she and Byron were not sexually involved at the time, despite much speculation from netizens and even Martins when he saw them appear on the Jumbotron.

According to her, she and the former Astronomer CEO didn’t even kiss at the time, although she admitted to having a “crush” on him.

However, all of this didn’t seem to matter, as her life was put under intense scrutiny after the incident and she received death threats on several occasions.

Reflecting further on the scandal, Cabot admitted to the outlet that being so friendly with her former boss was something she shouldn’t have done, even though she was already separated from her husband, Andrew, at the time.

“I made a bad decision and took some High Noons, danced and acted inappropriately with my boss,” she told the outlet.

These days, Cabot no longer feels any guilt, as she believes she took “responsibility” for her actions by resigning even after the Astronomer’s board asked her to return to her role.

Speaking further about her resignation from Astronomer, Cabot claimed it was the price she had to pay.

“This is the price I chose to pay,” also emphasized the seasoned human resources professional. “I want my children to know that you can make mistakes, and you can definitely be wrong, but you don’t need to be threatened with being killed for them.”

According to Cabot, the board still wanted her to return to the company as head of human resources.

Amid the scandal, his family and friends feared his life was in danger, with Cabot noting that his children were “afraid that [she] was going to die and they were going to die.
