Arsenal have ‘new’ January talks with Nico Paz despite Real Madrid project
Arsenal have taken a “new” approach to the representatives of a player highly regarded by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez ahead of January, according to a new report.
Arsenal prepare for their trip to Everton on Saturday
Saturday’s showdown at Hill Dickinson promises to be massive for Arsenal, with three points against Everton not only desirable, but absolutely essential if Mikel Arteta’s men harbor any real title ambitions.
Man City are breathing down their necks at the moment and could take the lead if they beat West Ham hours before Arsenal’s Merseyside showdown.
The Gunners got past Wolves by the skin of their teeth last time out, thanks to two own goals from the away team to hand Arteta a dramatic and nervy three points in north London.
Arsenal will be hoping to put in a much more convincing display against David Moyes’ in-form Toffees side, who are currently genuine contenders for Europe, but they will have to do so with a makeshift defense.
Mikel Arteta shares Arsenal’s ‘hope’ in ‘positive’ injury update ahead of Everton
The Spaniard has some pretty good news.
Everton come too soon for Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes, who were both ruled out at the weekend, while summer signing Cristhian Mosquera continues his recovery from an ankle problem.
This leaves Arsenal dangerously thin at the back, with only one or two more injuries to key defenders which could lead to a crisis.
Some reports suggest sporting director Andrea Berta could even use the January window in search of more cover, with Crystal Palace prop Marc Guehi among potential ‘big name’ targets.
However, according to TEAMtalk and journalist Graeme Bailey, they have also been inquiring about the attackers in recent weeks.
Arsenal have ‘new’ talks with Como sensation Nico Paz
Indeed, Arsenal are believed to have adopted a ‘new’ approach towards Como sensation Nico Paz and his camp.
However, it’s bad news, with the 21-year-old firmly determined to join Real Madrid next summer.
Sources confirm Arsenal have made inquiries over the past six weeks alongside Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea, but all four Premier League giants have received identical responses – Paz only wants the Santiago Bernabéu.
In the TT article, Bailey writes that Arsenal have contacted Paz’s representatives to assess his availability, but the Argentine is firmly targeting a return to Spain.
The attacking midfielder has been sensational in Serie A this season, scoring five goals and a further five assists in 15 appearances.
His technical quality and creative vision make him one of the brightest young talents in Europe.
Real Madrid inserted buyout clauses when selling Paz to Como in 2024, still intending to bring him home after a period of development abroad.
Carlo Ancelotti had given him limited chances at the Bernabeu previously, but Los Blancos president Pérez now sees him as Real’s “future” alongside Turkish starlet Arda Güler.
Tottenham also tried to secure Paz last summer when Como slapped a £61million price tag on him, but found they could only land him temporarily before Madrid snapped up their gem.
Arsenal and their Premier League rivals now face the same reality: no financial might can trump a player’s determination to succeed at Real.
Perez believes the Tenerife-born designer will flourish alongside Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and Aurélien Tchouameni, forming the next generation of Madrid’s Galacticos.
Berta reportedly considering signing Premier League star in January, amid Arsenal concerns
It would be a surprising decision.
