Apple would have an “stripped” chatbot to compete with chatgpt in the work

Apple has lagged behind the competitive market for chatbots powered by AI, but it can have a plan for an internal option that aligns about philosophy “either, but the best” of the company. According to Bloomberg‘S Mark Gurman, Apple has created a team entitled “Answers, knowledge and information” earlier this year which is responsible for developing a “stripped rival of chatgpt”.
The formation of this team represents a major change of direction compared to the previous position of Apple on artificial intelligence when the company joined forces with OpenAI in 2024 to infuse Siri with Chatgpt instead of developing its own IA chatbot. Now Gurman has reported that this new Apple team would rather develop internal intermediary services for a “new chatgpt type research experience” that can crawl the web to answer questions. These new capacities could be an autonomous application, as well as supporting AI’s capacities for Siri, Spotlight and Apple Safari, according to Gurman’s sources. The team would be led by Robby Walker, who previously supervised Siri, and has published job openings that mention experience to want with research algorithms and engine development.
Beyond the team of responses, knowledge and information, Apple has experienced growing pain in artificial intelligence. Earlier this year, the company said that it would delay the release of the new and improved Siri, only adding that it would deploy “the coming year”. However, Apple is aware of the need to speed up its Apple Intelligence program to remain competitive. During the last third quarter of results call, CEO of the company, Tim Cook, said that Apple was open to acquisitions to accelerate its AI roadmap.
