Apple ends Clips, its forgotten video editing application

This seems to be the end of the road for Apple Excerpts application. The company declared on a support page that it stopped updating the video editing app and new users can no longer download it from the App Store. Existing users on iOS and iPadOS will continue to have access for now, but the company hasn’t said how long that will last. “If you’ve already downloaded the Clips app, you can always re-download it from your Apple account in the App Store,” the support page notes.
The clips were introduced in 2017 and offers a multitude of editing tools for creating videos for social networks. But Clips never really took off, and many of the features it boasts are now pretty much standard on social apps. Apple has recommended that Clips users back up their videos to their photo libraries or elsewhere, so if you’re one of the few users waiting, you should probably do so before it’s too late.
