Anthony Joshua’s driver charged in Nigeria crash that killed two

Boxing star, Anthony Joshua’s driver, charged for fatal accident in Nigeria which left two dead, Monday December 29, 2025.
Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was charged at the Sagamu Magistrate’s Court on Friday, January 2, 2026.
As reported BBC, Police sources informed that the charges included dangerous driving, leading to the death of Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and his bodybuilding trainer, Sina Ghami, who died on Monday, December 29, 2025, after the vehicle they were traveling in crashed into a stationary truck on a highway in Ogun State, near Lagos.
Fortunately, Anthony Joshua survived the accident.
The former heavyweight champion was taken to hospital with injuries after the accident and was released Wednesday.
Prosecutors brought four counts against Mr. Kayode: causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and driving without a valid driver’s license, a police source said.
Additionally, the accused was granted bail in the sum of 5,000,000 Naira (£2,578) and remanded in custody pending fulfillment of his bail conditions.
The case was adjourned until January 20, 2026.
Joshua, 36, was a passenger in a Lexus SUV that collided with a parked truck on the busy Lagos-Ibadan highway in southwest Nigeria on December 29, 2025.
Mr Ghami and Mr Ayodele were both pronounced dead at the scene, while Joshua was pictured being helped from the wreckage.

After leaving the hospital, Joshua went to the funeral home where their bodies were “being prepared for repatriation”, reports BBC.
Officials in Ogun and Lagos states said in a statement that the British boxer had a “heavy heart” following the deaths of the two men, who were both his close friends.
Just hours before the accident, Joshua posted a video on Instagram of himself playing table tennis with Mr Ayodele.
Additionally, Eddie Hearn, who has been Joshua’s promoter for over a decade, paid tribute to the team members.
“Rest in peace, Latz and Sina,” Hearn posted on Instagram. “Your energy and loyalty, among so many other great qualities, will be deeply missed. I pray for the strength and guidance of all their family, friends and of course AJ during this very difficult time.”
