Amazon issues reimbursements to certain customers for returns returned to the electronic commerce giant, and some were returned years ago.
Refunds are offered after a “recent internal exam” by Amazon during which the company “identified a very small feedback where we had refunded without payment or where we could not verify that the right item had been returned to us, so no refund was issued”, according to a spokesperson for Amazon.
The move was reported for the first time by Bloomberg.

The spokesperson told Fox Business that the company had “solved the payment problem and made changes to the process to contact customers more quickly about unresolved yields in the future”.

There is “no action required of customers to receive reimbursements”, according to Amazon’s spokesperson. This decision has occurred after a judge refused to reject a collective appeal against the company concerning an alleged incapacity to reimburse people for certain returns.
Some social media users have recently received Amazon money for products they have returned to the electronic commerce giant years ago.

For example, a user on LinkedIn said that he had received nearly $ 1,800 for a television ordered seven years ago and returned thereafter.
While the company published its results in the first quarter earlier this month, financial director Brian Ossavsky said that Amazon had known “unique costs that have an impact on the North American and international operating profit”.

These unique costs were “linked to certain historical yields of customers who have not yet been resolved and certain costs to receive stocks that have been withdrawn in the first quarter before the planned prices”, according to Ossavsky.

Some customers have challenged Amazon’s yields and reimbursements in the past.
The company was struck by a collective appeal a few years ago, saying that the company again billed customers for the items they had returned and obtained an advanced refund from the company. The case, which Amazon sought to reject, remains active.
Amazon does not reveal the number of orders he receives, nor the number of yields he feeds in his financial results.
