Amanda Seyfried says Thomas Sadoski is making ‘sacrifices’ for his career

Amanda Seyfried gave a rare insight into her dynamic with her husband Thomas Sadoski while navigating one of her busiest chapters in Hollywood.

“[He] a lot of sacrifices for me,” Seyfried, 40, revealed in his Vogue digital cover story, published Thursday, January 8. “He also knows that right now, the opportunities available to me are insane.”

Seyfried and Sadoski, 49, have been married since 2017 and welcomed their first child, a daughter, the same year. They also share a son, born in 2020.

Seyfried said Vogue that she often “says no” to various offers, also sharing insight into her experience as a working mother.

“My world moves so fast and there are so many things I have to do every day,” she admitted when asked if her children understood her career. “And I can’t express what I do. I just say very clearly every day, ‘I would really rather be at home with you.'”

With two major projects at the box office — Seyfried stars in The cleaning lady And Ann Lee’s willthe latter of which earned her nominations at the Critics Choice Awards and the 2026 Golden Globes – the actress remains conscious of her busy schedule.

“That’s the privilege I have at this point in my career,” she said. Vogue. “I can say, ‘Look, I’m going to make this work, but…I have to sleep with my kids Friday night, Saturday, Sunday – I have to sleep with them.’ That’s my only rule. And it nourishes me. I mean, it probably helps them, but it definitely helps me.

Ann Lee’s will director Here Fastvold understood Seyfried’s limitations, noting to the outlet: “It’s important for her that she chooses projects that are close to her heart, because what she wants is to be with her family, obviously, on her farm.”

Throughout his time in the spotlight, Seyfried has kept his personal life relatively private. Last month, she opened up about meeting Sadoski while she was in a “dead end” relationship.

“We were both involved with other people,” she said on the “Dear Chelsea” podcast. “I just assumed he thought I was a loser because that’s how I saw myself when it came to men. … I was in a relationship where I just wasn’t seen.”

Seyfried noted that she “had a dream” of one day settling down with a family, so she “opened herself up” to something new. She met Sadoski while starring together in the 2015 Off-Broadway production of The way we get by, it was the “first and only” time she tried her hand at theater.

“I really liked his voice and I liked that he had salt-and-pepper hair,” she recalls. “He’s a theater guy, so his feet were so firmly on the ground when it came to this kind of work, and I was so scared.”

Sadoski helped Seyfried feel “really safe and seen,” something she wasn’t used to. “I think when you’re really scared and you have someone who says, ‘Here, take my hand,’ you can’t help but fall in love with something about them — whether it’s a man or a woman — you feel safe,” she said. “I felt safe with him.”
