Agriculture, dairy products remain collage points in India

Agriculture and dairy products are the main collision points of the commercial agreement proposed between India and the United States and the sources said that it now belonged to Washington DC to appeal to the agreement.
“India does not wish to open sensitive sectors of agriculture, in particular dairy and genetically modified products,” said a person familiar with development, noting that these are problems of national interest and the means of subsistence of several Indians, in particular farmers, depends on it.
“The waiting match is now underway. India is firm to protect its interests. Sealing the agreement immediately could take time, but it is to be hoped that this will be done in the coming weeks on July 31,” noted the source.
Another question that has been considered a challenge in talks on bilateral trade agreement is the reduction in tariffs on automobiles by India.
According to sources, India has offered a wide range of concessions in the United States in negotiations, including the purchase of crude oil and defense equipment. In addition, it is also likely to be limited in several agricultural products such as Washington apples, pacan nuts, almonds and United States.
India has put pressure for concessions in its exports with a high intensity of labor to the United States, such as textiles, leather and jewels and jewelry. Concerns also emerge in terms of the United States to collect prices on pharmaceutical products and copper of 200% and 50%, respectively.
India and the United States have worked on a bilateral trade agreement because New Delhi hopes for a 26% reciprocal rate which is to be taken by the United States from August 1 now. President Donald Trump was however positive about a trade agreement with India and said it could be in research in the coming days.
