Adele ready for new chapter in Hollywood after absence

Adele is about to make a big comeback into the limelight.

This time, she won’t just sing behind a microphone but will make her acting debut in Tom Ford’s adaptation of “Cry to Heaven.”

The singer quietly stepped away from the spotlight after wrapping up her Las Vegas residency last year. In the past, she has also made it clear that she doesn’t like being famous and is often looking for a “big break” from music.

Adele is part of an all-star cast that will feature in an adaptation of Anne Rice’s novel, “Cry to Heaven.”

Deadline has confirmed that Tom Ford wrote the screenplay and will also wear director and producer hats through his production company Fade To Black. Although there is no official release date yet, the film could hit theaters in late fall 2026, with principal photography expected to begin in mid-January next year.

Adele is joined by other stars including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nicholas Hoult, Owen Cooper and Paul Bettany. Although the role of the “Set Fire to the Rain” singer in the film remains unclear, the adaptation follows the lives of two protagonists as they navigate the world of opera.

News of Adele’s acting debut comes a year after she told fans she was stepping away from the spotlight to enjoy her life in solitude.

After performing “Weekends with Adele” for the final time at Caesar’s Palace, the 16-time Grammy Award winner told fans, “I won’t see you for an incredibly long time. I just need some rest. I’ve spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live it now.”

True to her word, the singer was only spotted in public two months ago, when she was spotted hanging out with friends in Las Vegas.

It’s not unlike Adèle taking breaks from the spotlight. However, his latest interruption seems remarkably different from the others.

During previous hiatuses, the singer would sometimes make public appearances during interviews or at award shows. However, this time she managed to stay completely out of the public eye.

Sources close to Adele say the move was intentional because she wants to control what the public sees of her life, as it will help her better protect her peace.

As The Blast reports, a source said, “It’s nothing new that she keeps her private life separate; she has a right to it, but it has to be said that more than ever, she’s making an extra effort to be strict about what she lets people see.”

Shortly after Adele took a step back from the public, it was reported that she was considering returning to the UK because she was “homesick”.

According to The Blast, a source close to the pop star said she was looking for a “beautiful” and “secure” place in the capital.

The insider also revealed that although she was house hunting in the UK, the “Someone Like You” singer had no plans to sell her $58 million Beverly Hills mansion.

The singer shares the mansion with her fiancé, Rich Paul, and her eight-year-old son, and she is reportedly returning to the UK with them by her side.
