Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli silence critics with dominant partnership
India’s experienced batting pair faced heavy criticism following their low scores in the opening matches of the ODI series. Rohit managed just 8 runs in the first match, while Kohli was dismissed for a duck in the first and second ODI. However, the third and final match saw the seasoned activists respond in style to their detractors.
Rohit hit a majestic 121 off 118 balls, while Kohli contributed 74 fluidly, leading India to victory with a commanding 168-run stand. Their partnership not only sealed a convincing victory for the hosts but also reminded fans and critics of their unmatched class and experience in pressure situations.
AB de Villiers defends Ro-Ko against ‘unfair negativity’
Speaking on his YouTube channel, De Villiers expressed his disappointment at how quickly some people turn against players as they approach the latter stages of their careers. The former Proteas slugger didn’t hold back, using strong words to describe the negativity directed at the two Indian superstars.
“I don’t know what it is about people – or if I can even call them that. Cockroaches come out of their holes as soon as players reach the end of their careers. Why? Why would anyone pour negative energy on players who have given their lives for their country and for this beautiful game of cricket? This is the perfect time to celebrate them,” said de Villiers.

De Villiers urges fans to celebrate legends
De Villiers, who shares a close friendship with Rohit and Kohli, further said that even though a small section of fans may criticize them, the majority still appreciate their contributions to Indian cricket. He urged everyone to focus on celebrating their achievements rather than tearing them down.
“They’ve received a lot of criticism over the last few months. Everyone seems to be trying to bring them down, and I don’t know why. Obviously I’m referring to a minority because I think most people still celebrate Rohit and Virat and their incredible careers. It’s a fantastic time to celebrate them once again,” added De Villiers.
