Mallorca to suspend Dani Rodriguez and remove the vice-captain after the explosion of social media

The Liga Side Marsorca continuously presented the vice-captain Dani Rodriguez and deleted his leadership role following comments he published online criticizing the treatment of the club of him.

The decision was confirmed by an official statement on the club’s website shortly after Rodriguez expressed her frustration on Instagram for not having been used as a substitute during the 2-1 defeat of Mallorca against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

Chef Jagoba Arrasate rather turned to Takuma Asano and Jan Virgili, 19, who made his professional debut after joining Barcelona. Virgili was then seen celebrating the opportunity with her family in the stands.

The midfielder also published a photo of his wife and children at the Bernabeu, subtitled with a longer reflection in Spanish. In this document, Rodríguez wrote:

“An important lesson and advice: you never expect anyone from anyone, especially today, when meritocracy, culture and respect for work are visible by their absence.”
