YouTube prepares the repression of “mass produced” and “repetitive” videos, while the concern concerning salide is developing

YouTube is preparing to update its policies to repress the capacity of creators to generate income from “inauthentic” content, including mass produced and other types of repetitive content – things that have become easier to generate using AI technology.

On July 15, the company will update its monetization policies of the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) with more detailed guidelines on the type of content can earn money from creators and what cannot.

The exact political language itself has not yet been published, but a page on the aid documentation from YouTube explains that the creators have always been required to download the “original” and “authentic” content. The update indicates that the new language will help creators to better understand what the “inauthentic” content looks like today.

Some youtube creators feared that the update would limit their ability to monetize certain types of videos, such as reaction videos or those with clips, but an article by YouTube responsible for the editorial and creative link, René Ritchie, says that this is not the case.

In a video update published on Tuesday, Ritchie says that change is only a “minor update” of YPP’s YPP policies and is designed to better identify when the content is produced in mass or repetitive.

In addition, adds Ritchie, this type of content has been unacceptable for monetization for years, because it is the content that viewers often consider spam.

What Ritche does not say, however, is how easier it is to create such videos these days.

With the rise of AI technology, YouTube has become flooded with slal, a term referring to low -quality media or made content using generative AI technology. For example, it is common to find a superimposed AI voice in photos, video clips or other reused content, thanks to text text tools in video. Some channels filled with Music from AI have millions of subscribers. False videos generated by AI on news events, such as the Diddy Trial, have accumulated millions of views.

In another example, a real series of crime murders on YouTube which has become viral has proven to be entirely generated by AI, 404 media reported earlier this year. Even the resemblance of the CEO of YouTube, Neal Mohan, was used in a phishing scam generated by AI on the site, despite the tools in place that allow users to report Deepfake videos.

Although YouTube can minimize the modifications to come as “minor” or clarification, the reality is that allowing this type of content to grow and that its creators take advantage could ultimately damage the reputation and the value of Youtube. It is therefore not surprising that the company wants clear policies in place which allow it to promulgate massive prohibitions of SLOB creators of the YPP AI.
