Matthew Perry’s doctor Salvador Plasencia will plead guilty to four federal charges linked to the illegal distribution of Ketamine, a decision that brings the very publicized case around the death of the beloved actor one more resolution.
Perry, known worldwide for his role as Chandler Bing on Friendsdied in October 2023. He was found insensitive to his hot tub from his home in the Pacific palisades at the age of 54.
The cause of the death was subsequently confirmed as an overdose of ketamine.
In his advocacy agreement, Plasencia admitted that he had provided Ketamine to Perry on several occasions, although there is no legitimate medical reason to do so.
The agreement recognizes that this occurred in the weeks preceding the death of Perry. According to federal prosecutors, Plasencia tried to hide its actions by creating a false “treatment plan” for the actor, aimed at justifying the prescriptions thereafter.
The advocacy agreement describes a potential prison sentence between 15 and 21 months, although the final conviction is finally based with the judge.
The case drew widespread attention not only because of Perry’s fame, but also because of the disturbing communications revealed during the investigation.
In one message to another doctor, Plasencia would have written: “I wonder how much this moron will pay … Light.” This text, say the prosecutors, reflects the negligent contempt shown towards the well-being of Perry.
Federal accusations were deposited last summer against Plasencia and four other people accused of playing a role in the death of Perry.
Among them, Jasveen Sangha, widely called the authorities as the “queen of ketamine”. She faces charges related to the possession and distribution of ketamine and methamphetamine of a hiding place in North Hollywood. Sangha pleaded not guilty and should be tried in August.
The other three co -accused – Erik Fleming, Kenneth Iwamasa and Dr. Mark Chavez – have already agreed to plead guilty to a single conspiracy leader to provide ketamine.
