Nupur Sanon, actress and sister of the Bollywood star, Kriti Sanon, is currently faced with heat on social networks after her Nobo fashion brand (abbreviation of No Boundaries) has been criticized for what many users have called “fast too expensive fashion”. While the brand aims to position itself as a premium label offering Indo-Western parts for modern Indian women, online users do not seem convinced by the price labels attached to its collection.

A quick glance on the Nobo website shows that the cheapest article listed is a pair of relaxed shorts at the price of RS. 2,400, while the most expensive product – a traditional Kurta set – costs a stiff RS. 26,500. Western wear items include a skirt and a retail crop top combo at Rs. 20,000. Even the simplest dresses start at around Rs. 7,000.
Social media users, in particular on Reddit, have not retained the brand’s criticism for what they consider as unjustified prices, especially for clothing which, according to them, resemble low cost mode available on local street markets like Sarojini Nagar. A user wrote sarcastically: “I think her brand is incomplete because she has clearly forgotten to write the label that no one buys this too expensive fast fashion shit.” Another commented: “Label Nobo – nobody buys one”.

Others highlighted the gap between the price and the quality, with a comment by reading: “Yes, the quality is very bad. At best, the price should be around 1k – even it is too much for such mediocre conceptions. ” Another joked: “No BO is short for” no one bought it “.
Criticism seems to come not only from the cost, but that some users feel is an increasing disconnection between the brands led by celebrities and the daily consumer. Some users have also noted the irony of the launch of a brand called “no borders” while providing products that many think they are out of reach for the most part.
Currently, neither NuPur Sanon nor Kriti Sanon have publicly discussed the counterpoup. It remains to be seen that the brand will revise its prices or meet criticism, but it has certainly sparked a wider conversation around accessibility and authenticity in famous fashion companies.
