TDAP, GCCI Boost collaboration to stimulate export growth

Karachi: The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has strengthened its collaboration with the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) in a strategic session aimed at improving the export potential of engineering and manufacturing sectors in the region.

Reunion, held in the GCCI premises, brought together senior officials from the engineering division II of TDAP and members of the GCCI Executive Committee. He focused on the revival of the impetus on the joint initiatives previously agreed under TDAP and the Export Development Fund (EDF), with the aim of improving the global competitiveness of the region thanks to technical and marketing support.

The main participations of TDAP Punjab-II included the director EDF Heeramerame Pervaiz; Director Engineering-II Nadia Faroqi; Director of engineering and new initiatives Ali Tamkin Butt; Deputy Director EDF Dr Zain Abidin; And deputy director Faisal Zaman.

The session has examined progress in previous collaborations and has introduced a sectoral development plan targeting structural bottlenecks in the industrial landscape of Gujranwala. The city’s engineering sector has been distinguished for its export potential, in particular on the markets through Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. Managers have proposed a series of sectoral studies to map constraints and promote innovation in product design.

A particular emphasis has also been placed on the metal and plastic kitchen utensils in Gujranwala, which operates largely within the informal economy. TDRA recommended that it modernize supply chains and continue food quality certifications to meet international standards. As part of this thrust, the formation of a tripartite committee including TDAP, GCCI and the National Certification Council (NCC) was proposed to facilitate certification processes. GCCI was invited to submit a list of priority certifications to guide support efforts.
