Donald Trump spoke to Chinese President Xi Jinping by phone on Thursday, the Xinhua State news agency said in the midst of the simmer trade tensions between the two biggest economies in the world.

The call came a day after Trump described his Chinese counterpart as “extremely difficult to conclude” and, in a week, the two countries accused each other of denying a commercial truce signed in Geneva last month.

The two men were known for the last time to talk to each other in January, before the second inauguration of Trump as president.

The agreement concluded between the United States and China temporarily reduced its rates in tit-tray, which had increased by 145%, with Washington, saying that it also restarted the flow of rare criticism and related magnets to the United States.

The United States has accused China of not having held its promises of approving the exports of rare earths, causing shortages that threaten to close certain parts of American industry.

Beijing accused the Washington of “seriously raping” the Geneva Agreement by issuing new warnings on the use of Huawei chips on a global scale, interrupting sales software sales to Chinese companies and canceling visas for Chinese students.

It’s a story in development
