South Africa defeated Heinrich Klaasen retired from all forms of international cricket, a blow for the country before their co-hosting of the 2027 World Cup where it would have been a major draw card.
The 33 -year -old cricket player went to social networks to share the news, calling him a deeply emotional but peaceful decision.
“It’s a sad day for me, announcing that I decided to get away from international cricket,” wrote Klaan. “It took me a long time to decide what is best for me and my family for the future. It was really a very difficult decision but also with whom I have absolute peace. ”
Klaasen has thought about his international trip, describing him as the fulfillment of a dream of a lifetime. “From the first day, it was the biggest privilege representing my country. It was all that I worked and that I dreamed as a young boy,” he added.
The carrier of Guichet-Gardien, who appeared in 122 Internationals for the Proteas, felt gratitude towards his coaches during his cricket trip.
“I have established great friendships and relationships that I will cherish for life. Playing for the Proteas gave me the opportunity to meet incredible people who have changed my life. I can’t thank them enough. My path of wearing the Proteas shirt was different from most, and there were certain coaches who continued to believe in me – to them, I will always be grateful. ”
Klaasen said the main reason for his retirement was to spend more time with his family.
“I can’t wait to spend more time with my family, and this decision will allow me to do so. I will always be a great supporter of Proteas and I want to thank all those who supported me, I and my teammates, throughout my career. ”
Heinrich Klaansen made his international debut in 2018 during an ODI series against India and represented South Africa in the three formats in a career of seven years.
The ODIs have proven to be its most successful format, where he played 60 games and scored 2141 points at an average of 43.69 and an impressive striking rate of 117.05, including four centuries and 11 half-century.
