Prince Harry was “disappointed” by the perception of the sisters of Diana on Meghan

However, the brothers and sisters of Diana, in particular Earl Spencer, would have been careful and would have advised the Duke of Sussex not to precipitate marriage, which would have caused tensions.

According to a book by Royal Author Tom Bower, Prince Harry was also “disappointed” with the reaction of Princess Diana’s sisters to Meghan Markle.

Without the chance to seek the blessing of his deceased mother, the Duke of Sussex turned to his maternal aunts in 2017 to present them to the former actress.

Diana, remembered her warmth and her compassion, was particularly close to her younger brother Charles Spencer, although she also shared a link with her two older sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes.

In an interview with the BBC, Harry expressed her conviction that Diana would have been “on the moon” about her relationship with Meghan.

He said, “I think she would be on the moon, jump from top to bottom, so excited for me, but then, as I said, she would probably have been the best friends – the best friends with Meghan.”

Despite Harry’s hopes, it was suggested that all Diana sisters do not share the same enthusiasm for her marriage.

In his revealing book “Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Winds, “Royal Biographer Tom Bower detailed a tense meeting between the prince and the members of the Diana family.

According to Bower, “Harry supposed that Diana’s family and friends would see a similarity between Diana and her fiancée”.

However, Harry would have been “so disappointed” when Diana’s family did not agree.

“No one agreed that his vulnerable mother had something in common with her girlfriend,” said Bower, according to the Daily mail. “More uncomfortable for him, they thought that Meghan would not integrate into the royal family.”

Although the sisters of Diana did not directly challenge the relationship, it was his brother, Charles, who expressed his concerns. Inspired by his own experiences, the count of Spencer advised Harry to avoid rushing into marriage.

“His advice caused a bitter reaction,” wrote Bower. “It was going to be really difficult, Harry would later think about the establishment of Meghan’s square in the family.”

Despite skepticism on the part of certain family members, Harry remained firm by comparing Meghan to his late mother.

In Netflix 2022 documentary centers “Harry & Meghan”, he shared, “so much what Meghan is and the way she is, is so similar to my mother.”

“She has the same compassion, the same empathy, the same confidence. She has this warmth about her,” added Harry, compared.
