This week has seen Israel try a new plan to distribute food in Gaza, bypassing the UN and using American private entrepreneurs known as Gaza’s humanitarian funds. The result, it was suspended on the first day: after looting, chaos and safety measures were overwhelmed by desperate crowds. Meanwhile, the former constant support of the main allies of Israel experienced diplomatic erosion, private indignation turning to the condemnation of the public.
