Behind Matthew Boyd, Cubs offers a scanning of rocks

The Chicago Cubs have the most score offensive of the majors, but their pitching staff has done the bulk of the work lately.
The Cubs will target a scanning of Colorado rockies visiting Wednesday evening after a 3-1 victory on Monday and a 4-3 victory in 11 rounds on Tuesday.
Chicago, which leads the majors in runs (328), successes (506) and ranks second on average in the stick (0.262), saw the starting launchers Jameson Taillon and Cade Horton combines to launch 12 1/3 of three -point ball handles on the first two games in the series.
Horton granted two points on four strokes in six rounds on Tuesday before his colleague Recruit Matt Shaw blocks a simple on the field on the right, winning the ninth victory of the Cubs in the last 11 trials.
“Credit to guys,” said Cubs director Craig Counsell. “This is something that we focus on training in the spring, that we are a difficult team that can fight you in several ways. We have not had a good night with bats, but we launched very well.”
Matthew Boyd (4-2, 3.42 ERA) will start on Wednesday for Chicago and will try to bounce back after its shortest release of the season. Friday, the veteran left -hander made only four rounds against the Reds of Cincinnati, granting four points deserved on eight strokes and winning a decision without a decision. The Cubs won 13-6.
“I have to be better to store guys earlier,” said Boyd after the start. “But you just continue. You keep throwing. I hope I can start getting fast outings.”
Boyd, who has 3-0 in his last six outings, will start his career and the first against Colorado.
The rocks continue to be on the wrong side of MLB records, and another brand was fixed with their loss on Tuesday. The Colorado (9-46) has extended the worst start for any modern era team and abandoned its 21st consecutive series dating from last September, marking another brand of Lob MLB.
In a season that has given the Rockies to celebrate, the club hopes that the central defender of Brenton Doyle and the evening of two RBIs will help shoot the season of the third year player. Doyle strikes only .214 after launching 23 circuits in 2024.
“It was a good night for him; it is a springboard,” said the acting manager of the Rockies, Warren Schaeffer. “It was a step forward. He was big for us (Tuesday), and we expect more of that.”
The right-hander Tanner Gordon (1-1, 4.38 ERA) will obtain the ball for the rocky on Wednesday, making its third beginning of 2025.
Gordon made his season debut on May 8, granting four deserved points in 6 1/3 rounds of a defeat of 11-1 against the Tigers of Detroit. He won the first victory of his career on Friday, only abandoning two points deserved on five strokes in his passage of six heats, helping the rocks to win a 3-2 victory against the New York Yankees.
After having displayed a 0-6 file and an MPM of 8.65 in eight departures as a recruit last year, Gordon will face the Cubs for the first time on Wednesday.
