‘View’ Hosts Urge Clintons to Testify Before House Epstein Committee

Several co-hosts of “The View” pleaded Friday for former President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary to comply with congressional subpoenas against disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, Republican of Kentucky, told reporters Wednesday that the Clintons could face contempt charges for failing to respond to the call to testify. Meanwhile, the Clintons’ lawyers criticized Comer’s leadership of the investigation in a letter and dismissed the subpoenas, saying “President and Secretary of State Clinton have already provided the committee with the limited information they possess about Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.”
But some prominent liberal voices said it would be better for America as a country if the Clintons testified.
“As someone who wants to see everything in the Epstein files and wants every person to be held accountable, I think the Clintons should come forward,” said Sara Haines, co-host of “The View.” “It was a unanimous vote to subpoena them, and regardless of those affidavits or anything else, I think when people don’t show up, it makes them look more guilty than they are.”

“President Clinton appeared in tons of photos with no wrongdoing but with images that were released into the files,” Haines continued. “And we’ve known our friendship for years, and two years after Epstein got his contract, Ghislaine Maxwell was invited to Chelsea. [Clinton]It’s marriage, so there are certain associations there that I think you leave – you put everything out there. Let it be public. Let people hear.
“Because otherwise you’re giving them the bait to say, ‘Well, you don’t do it, we don’t do it. This person doesn’t do it.’ No, if you want the Epstein files and you want everyone held accountable, they show up and they do it.”
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin shared a similar sentiment, noting that Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon were jailed for defying congressional subpoenas regarding the Jan. 6 investigation.
“I personally don’t believe that control of Congress is something that should be optional for people,” she said. “I have testified before Congress, never under subpoena. I was asked to do so and I showed up and I have never seen a congressional subpoena as optional.”
Griffin went on to say that this would be a great opportunity for Bill Clinton to shed light on any real wrongdoing he saw others engaging in.

Co-host Ana Navarro argued that while she is personally uncomfortable with the idea of calling the Clintons to testify, she agrees that it is ultimately what is best for society.
“I’ve known Bill and Hillary Clinton for over 20 years. They were very good friends of my ex, and they would go down to Miami and stay at his hotel all the time. So it’s very difficult for me and, you know, it’s not a comfortable place for me to say I want them to come forward and testify, but here’s the thing, I want us as a society to hold people that we love to the same standards that we don’t like. not like,” she said.
Navarro said the Oversight Committee held the Clintons to different standards, while Donald and Melania Trump got special treatment.
