Bachelor Nation’s Madi Prewett Explains Why She Loves ‘Fasting’

Bachelor Nation alum Madi Prewett details his relationship with food – and undergoes brief food fasts.
“I think, for me personally, food has always been a comfort thing or a practical thing, like I’m going to do what’s convenient — or I’m going for comfort or for pleasure,” Prewett, 29, said on the Monday, Jan. 12, episode of his “Stay True” podcast. “Even when I think about following Jesus, it’s like, ‘Deny your flesh [and] crucify your flesh. I think you can think about it even in terms of food.
She continued: “There are things that my flesh desires [like] Krispy Kreme donuts, but I know that probably won’t be the most God-glorifying thing I can do right now.
Instead of always feeding his desires with food, Prewett began fasting.
“Part of the reason I love fasting is because it’s this beautiful combination of starving your flesh and nourishing your spirit,” she said. “It’s not just saying, ‘I’m going to abstain from eating, but rather, ‘I’m going to fill myself with the word of God and prayer and take time…instead of taking that time to cook and eat, I’m going to spend that time in the Bible.'”
In addition to his fasts, Prewett also follows an “ancient nutrition” style of eating.
“I also took Collagen Bone Broth Protein Powder, Ancient Nutrition,” she said, referring to the podcast guest. Dr. Josh Axthe recipe in his The Biblio diet book. “I put it in my smoothies in the morning and it’s so good.”
Prewett has previously spoken openly about his body image, once revealing that his struggles began after he left. The Bachelor in 2020.
“It was traumatic. I lost about 20 pounds,” she said on the “Unplanned” podcast in August 2025. “I don’t even remember what aired and what aired. [didn’t]. Y’all, I don’t even know if I watched my season all the way through, I’ll be very honest. I got away from all things a lot Bachelor. Even to this day, I don’t talk about it much.
Season 24 Bachelor Pierre Weber proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss during the finale, only to break up with her a few days later to pursue runner-up Prewett. The rekindled romance of Weber, now 34, and Prewett lasted only a few days. She left with her current husband Grant Trout in 2021, getting married less than a year later. Prewett and Troutt, 29, welcomed their daughter Hosanna in January 2025.
Pregnancy and childbirth also affected Prewett’s body image.
“It really changes everything in life and in your body,” she admitted in a July 2025 episode of her podcast. “My skin is breaking out more, I’m in the middle of losing my hair [and] just all that.
Although she feels self-conscious about her postpartum appearance, Prewett hopes her daughter never feels the same way.
“I was so convinced because I was like, ‘Wait, I tell you all the time that your beauty comes from the lord and your beauty is what’s inside you and that charm is deceptive,'” she noted. “[I] talk to him all the time, and… it’s so important to show your children who you want them to be and what you want them to do. Yes, words are important, but children will watch what you do before listening to what you say.
