As South Africa’s premier T20 league, SA20 2025-26, draws to a close, the Joburg Super Kings have suffered a major blow. The Super Kings-owned franchise lost veteran skipper and striker Faf du Plessis to injury for the remainder of SA20 Season 4, which he suffered on January 10 during the team’s match against MI Cape Town.

The 41-year-old injured his thumb during Saturday’s game and was unable to take the field during the huge 234-point chase. While the team hoped for his recovery, coach Stephen Flemming confirmed that the injury was serious as Faf could not even hold the stick.
