The PHMA warns the risk of exporting export disturbance in the Sindh

Lahore: Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA) has strongly urged the federal and provincial authorities to take immediate measures to restore public order in the Sindh, guaranteeing the sure movement of export shipments.
The call follows renewed disorders in certain parts of the interior Sindh, where the demonstrations concerning the problems linked to the channel have increased in road blockages, the disturbances of the supply chains and attempts have indicated to cease and loot the export shipments on the way to the ports of Karachi.
The president of the PHMA zone, Abdul Hameed, said that the association respects citizens’ right to protest peacefully but has condemned the targeting of the export cargo. “The blocking of motorways and the attack on export shipments are unacceptable. Exporters must not be made of scapegoats for political or administrative disputes in which they have no involvement,” he said.
Hameed stressed that international buyers, especially in the United States and the EU, are very sensitive to shipping delays and reputation risks. “Pakistan cannot afford to be considered an unreliable supplier due to internal security towers,” he warned.
The PHMA warned that not acting quickly could cause a disruption of generalized exports of the Sindh, aggravating the existing challenges facing the clothing and hosiery sector. “We hope that the authorities will react quickly and reasonably.
