“Happy with all our strikers”: PBKS coach before the IPL 2025 eliminations series

Deputy coach of Punjab Kings, Brad Haddin, expressed strong confidence in his team’s shot unit and described the team’s strategic objectives for the rest of the tournament before the Kings of Punjab Next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Delhi Capitals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday. Haddin was effusive in his praise for the performance of the team’s shot throughout the tournament and also denied any change in the Skipper Shreyas Iyer striker, who played the order during the previous match against the Royals of Rajasthan.

“Our first order was exceptional. Our captain was super at number 3. We saw Shashank and Omar (Omarzai) on several occasions. When they were necessary, they came very well. Shashank had some 50 years, and Omar did the same thing. At this stage of the tournament, we are satisfied with the place where all our steps are,” said Hadin.

Addressing the recent absence of the captain of his usual shot position in the previous match, Haddin clarified: “It was due to the circumstances of the other day. It was a courageous effort to take the ground with the way his finger was. So, he always played a role, reducing the border in the rear half of the game. But yes, he will return to his normal position.

Mitchell Owen, who joined the Kings to replace Lockie Ferguson, made his debut for the team in the last match. Although he cannot do well with the bat in the match, the assistant coach showed immense confidence in himself and is positive about his return to the games to come.

Assuring that Marsh is now well prepared for the conditions, Haddin said: “I think the only thing Mitch brings is just pure raw power. He has had more than a week now to acclimatize to what he will get. He understands the conditions now. He talks a lot about our next opportunities to play the way we want to play.

Despite his qualification, Haddin stressed that the team has committed to improving continuous, to remain coherent in its performance and to achieve clear objectives.

“It is from the outside that we qualified, but we talked to the group some time ago to play the game and the style of play that we want to play, and we have clear goals where we want to finish at the end. And I think you will see this in the next two games,” he said.

Haddin concluded by expressing his satisfaction with the current depth of the team team, which allows coaching and selection staff to try different combinations in accordance with the situation.

Evaluating the team, he said: “I think that for the time we have luxury, we can go with a few different combinations. And what I like right now, all players are hungry to play. They are hungry to go out on the field. The training is ultra-competitive, and that’s where you want your group to be at this stage.”

The Punjab Kings will face the Capitals of Delhi at 7:30 p.m. at the Sawai Mansingh stadium, Jaipur on Saturday.
