Chevy Chase says Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special snub is ‘hurt’

Chevy Chase spoke about its exclusion from Saturday evening liveCelebrating 50 years of revealing he was “hurt”.
The 82-year-old actor and original Saturday Night Live cast member revealed in CNN Moviess’s next documentary, I’m Chevy Chase and you’re not, that he was disappointed not to have been included in SNL50: The Anniversary Special.
“Well, it was pretty upsetting actually,” Chase said. “This is probably the first time I’ve said it. But I expected that I would also be on stage with all the other actors.”
Chase admitted that the appearance of the other cast members made him confused when he wasn’t included.
“When Garrett [Morris] and Laraine [Newman] I went on stage there, I was curious why I didn’t do it. Nobody asked me. Why was I left out?
Chase also questioned his absence from the popular Weekend Update segment. “Why was Bill Murray there and why not me? I don’t have an answer to that question.”
He further shared that he raised the issue with SNL creator Lorne Michaels.
“I mentioned it in a text to Lorne once, and then took it back,” he said, adding, “But it’s not that stupid… They should have had me on stage. It hurts.”
For those who don’t know him, Chase was a part of SNL since its debut in 1975 and was the first anchor of Weekend Update.
