Lily Allen has revealed that her daughters are still in contact with David Harbour.
The 40-year-old singer split from Stranger thingis an actor about a year ago and she does not interfere in the relationship he still has with her children Ethel, 14, and Marnie, 12, whom she has with her first husband Sam Cooper.
She said The observer newspaper: “I stay out of it,” adding: “They both have phones. They all text each other.”
Lily, whose new album, West End Girlhints that David was unfaithful to her – admitted that his experiences during his second marriage gave him a better understanding of the “pain” Sam felt in their relationship.
She said: “[I’ve learned there are no] the bad and the good in a marriage but, having done things that weren’t very nice in my first marriage, I now have a better idea of the pain I may have inflicted.
“I learned how horrible it is to be a victim of this,” the singer added.
Despite her short-lived unions, Smile The singer does not rule out getting married again in the future.
“I’d like to say I would never do it again, but I love it. Everything but the institution, you know? I love being chosen. I love jewelry. I love dressing up. I love partying. I don’t like talking about money. I love my independence. But I don’t like divorce,” she explained.
Additionally, Lily found the divorce “devastating” and she struggled to trust others.
“It’s really devastating, it really is. It keeps you up at night and costs an awful lot of money, and it goes on and on. And I hate feeling like I can’t trust anyone. But there’s something about dealing with an ex-partner and lawyers that creates an environment where you can’t trust anyone or anything,” she said.
“We’re all huge walking contradictions, aren’t we? That’s what makes us human. You can think one thing one day, and then you grow up, and you think about something else – that’s life,” Lily Allen mentioned, before concluding with the words: “I’m a different person than I was 20 years ago because I’ve lived 20 years of my life, had two children and two marriages and I’ve learned a lot.”
