LARRY KUDLOW: Thanks to Mr. Trump and Mr. Netanyahu

It’s the holiday season and it’s supposed to be a time of joy and celebration. It’s Christmas and Hanukkah. And family reunions, office parties, and beautiful Christmas trees and menorahs. And Santa Claus and put big smiles on the faces of our children and our grandchildren. But suddenly all the news is horrible. It’s as if evildoers are trying to snatch happiness from civilized people.
I cannot explain the unspeakable deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele. I can’t explain it. I also cannot explain the motive for the shooting at Brown University. These are hideous acts of violence, at a time of year that is supposed to be filled with good cheer. But I can explain the horrific acts of anti-Semitism that took place in Australia during a Hanukkah event.
This mass killing perpetrated by two madmen, father and son, comes from a country that is a great ally of the United States, but which is led by a left-wing cabal. Directed by Anthony Albanese.
According to Axios, more than 1,600 anti-Semitic incidents have been recorded in the country this year alone, according to data from the Executive Council of Australian Jewry. Fortunately, a brave Muslim, Ahmed al-Ahmed, appeared out of nowhere and disarmed one of the gunmen during the Bondi massacre. It was great heroism. But tragically, 16 people were murdered and about three dozen others were injured in the worst case of anti-Semitic violence since the October 7 terrorist attack on Israel.
Here is what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said to Albanians in Australia yesterday: “On August 17, approximately four months ago, I sent Prime Minister Albanese of Australia a letter warning him that Australian government policies were promoting and encouraging anti-Semitism in Australia. »
Netanyahu added: “Instead, Prime Minister, you have replaced weakness with weakness and appeasement with more appeasement. Your government has done nothing to stop the spread of anti-Semitism in Australia. You did nothing to stop the cancer cells that were growing in your country.
So, I will just say: good for Prime Minister Netanyahu. People must be held accountable. This includes governments that are our allies, but there is a link between coddling anti-Semitism and the acts of inhumane violence that follow.
Which brings me back to the United States. I have no idea what motive led to the murder of two Brown University students and the injury of nine others. But I want to point out that Brown, alongside Columbia, Penn and many other elite American universities, has been coddling anti-Semitism for years. The whole DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) movement, which spread like wildfire until President Donald Trump put an end to it, was the root of all this anti-Semitism on campus.
President Trump has trampled on these schools, threatening to strip them of their lavish federal funding, and imposed a number of campus reforms. And it seems many schools are changing their policies.
So, at least in most of America, the lightness and brightness of Christmas and Hanukkah will be celebrated. And I will just say a big thank you to the toughness of President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu.
