Russian President Vladimir Putin is showing no signs of compromise, said Steve Rosenberg, the BBC’s Russia editor.
It comes after Russian officials said “no compromise” had been reached during five hours of talks between Putin and US envoy Steve Witkoff on Tuesday.
Putin believes that Russia has the initiative on the battlefield in Ukraine and can therefore dictate the terms of a peace deal, Rosenberg says.
