Miami mother stabs son over phone and delay

Talk about a morning that went completely off the rails in Miami. Leticia Puentes39, now faces serious charges after an argument with his son allegedly turned violent. What started as a disagreement over school spending and behavior reportedly escalated into a stabbing.

Mother allegedly stabbed son over phone bill dispute

Leticia Puentes, 39, faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing her son with a fork during a heated argument Thursday morning, according to Miami-Dade County jail records. The incident reportedly took place at their home near Northwest 72nd Street, about six miles north of downtown Miami. The argument stemmed from a disagreement over a phone bill and the teen’s repeated late arrivals at school, which allegedly escalated when the son began throwing things around the house.

Pitchfork attack injures teen, but he survives

During the confrontation, Puentes and her son allegedly fought on the floor, at which point she grabbed a fork and stabbed him behind the right ear, leaving him with a new puncture wound. Miami-Dade first responders arrived at the home and treated the teen on scene before he was taken for further medical evaluation. Despite his injury, the son survived the attack.

Puentes admits to stabbing his son, claims self-defense

Authorities say Puentes admitted to stabbing his son, but claimed it was an act of self-defense. Authorities arrested her and booked her into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. As of Friday, Puentes remained in custody on $3,000 bail. The investigation into the incident continues as authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the domestic dispute.
