Anthony Hopkins finally breaks silence on rumored feud with Jodie Foster

Anthony Hopkins recently broke his silence on Jodie Foster’s feud during the filming of their 1991 film, The silence of the lambs.

During an appearance in the last episode of Armchair expert with the Dax Shepard podcast, the Welsh actor recalled meeting Jodie while filming a film.

“She was very nice to him,” thus denying the idea that the actress never spoke to him during the filming of the film.

Anthony clarified, “That’s not true. We were pretty friendly. There’s nothing scary about it. It’s public s**t.”

THE Hannibal the actor wrote in We Did Right, Kid: A Memoir that he and Jodie tried to stay away from each other before finishing filming because of their characters.

Anthony told Dax that Jodie seemed immediately struck by her performance.

“We did the first reading, and I knew how to play it,” the 87-year-old said.

The Father The actor mentioned that it was “the first table read in New York, of all places.”

“So we finished the script and Kenny Utt, one of the producers, said, ‘Holy Moses, Tony, what is this?’ And Jodie said, ‘You’re scary,'” Anthony recalled.

In his memoir, the actor wrote: “We rushed in…I wanted to show what I could do, so I was as scary as possible. You could have heard a pin drop in the room. A few seconds after I started speaking as Lecter, I saw Jodie get tense.”

Meanwhile, Anthony revealed in his book that he and Jodie had lunch on the last day of filming for the Jonathan Demme-directed film.

THE Fracture The actor said: “Jodie put down her sandwich and said she had to confess something: she had been scared of me.”
