Charlie Coyle scored a goal and added two assists, Denton Mateychuk and Adam Fantilli also scored and Jet Greaves made 23 saves for the Blue Jackets, who blew a two-goal lead with just under seven minutes left in regulation in Edmonton on Monday before losing 5-4 in overtime.

Leon Draisaitl scored two goals, Evan Bouchard had three assists and Calvin Pickard made 20 saves for the Oilers, who were coming off a 2-1 overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday, their second straight overtime victory.

The Blue Jackets hit the post twice before taking a 1-0 lead at 15:36 of the first period. Coyle spun the puck back above the right circle and fired a wrist shot toward the net that Olivier tipped between Pickard’s pads.

Coyle and Olivier teamed up to score again, 44 seconds into the second period, to extend the lead to 2-0.

Olivier forced a turnover along the wall in the Edmonton zone and headed towards the left post before backhanding a pass to Coyle at the far post. He stopped the puck and quickly shot into the net.

Matt Savoie deflected Bouchard’s slap shot into the net to cut the score to 2-1 at 8:09 of the second.

Bouchard then set up Draisaitl for a one-timer from the right circle after a faceoff to tie the game 2-2 at 9:49.

Sean Monahan took a slapshot that missed the target, but the carom from the boards went out to the right circle, and Mateychuk was there to fire the puck into the net, giving Columbus a 3-2 lead at 10:19.

Connor McDavid appeared to score with 8:30 left in the second period to tie it 3-3, but Columbus challenged it for offside, which was confirmed after video review.

Fantilli came out from behind the net to collect a putback and poked Pickard to make it 4-2 at 18:20 of the second.

Olivier made it 5-2 at 7:30 of the third period on a pass from Coyle, but Vasily Podkolzin answered 27 seconds later to cut the score to 5-3.
