Steelers LB Cole Holcomb and S Chuck Clark both ill

Cole Holcomb of the Pittsburgh Steelers removes dirt from his helmet after recovering a fumble during the first half against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 29, 2023.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without linebacker Cole Holcomb and safety Chuck Clark for Sunday’s game against the visiting Indianapolis Colts.

Both players were demoted Saturday due to illness. Holcomb did not practice Thursday or Friday, and Clark missed practice Friday.

Holcomb, 29, has recorded 25 tackles and one forced fumble in seven games (three starts) this season after missing all of last season with a knee injury. Clark, 30, had 33 tackles and one forced fumble in six games (four starts) this season.

The Steelers (4-3) were already going to be shorthanded against the Colts (7-1) and their top-ranked offense with safety DeShon Elliott (knee) landing on injured reserve this week.

Pittsburgh activated linebacker Malik Harrison, 27, from IR on Saturday and added him to the 53-man roster. He hasn’t played since injuring his knee in the Week 1 win over the New York Jets.
