Daisy Edgar-Jones and Emilia Jones to lead period revenge thriller ‘Bad Bridgets’

Daisy Edgar-Jones, freshly arrived TwistsAnd CODA star Emilia Jones set to direct Bad Brigittesa period revenge thriller marking the next feature from Kneecap director Rich Peppiatt.
The project, which is already generating strong industry buzz, will premiere at November’s American Film Market, with FilmNation handling international sales and WME Independent overseeing domestic distribution.
Produced by LuckyChap and Peppiatt’s Coup d’Etat banner, Bad Brigittes is well underway, boasting an award-winning creative team that includes Oscar-winning production designer James Price (Poor things) and famous costume designer Kate Hawley (Crimson Woodpecker).
Filming is expected to begin in Northern Ireland and Ireland in spring 2026.
The film is inspired by the book Bad Bridget: crime, chaos and the life of Irish emigrants by Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick, developed in collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast.
The non-fiction work explored the turbulent lives of Irish emigrant women, nicknamed Bad Brigittes– who were labeled troublemakers in 19th century America.
According to the producers, the storyline follows a young woman who receives a mysterious letter that propels her from famine-stricken Ireland to New York, where she becomes embroiled in the world of the Irish Bridgets, causing chaos in the metropolis.
Peppiatt’s breakout film Kneecap made history as the most nominated debut film in BAFTA history, collecting seven British Independent Film Awards, five IFTAs and the London Critics’ Circle’s Breakthrough British/Irish Filmmaker Award.
