The United States and Japan forge stronger alliances


US President Donald Trump is visiting Japan, where he met with newly elected Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, highlighting strengthening security and trade ties. He approved Japan’s long-awaited order for F-35 missile fighter jets and welcomed Takaichi’s pledge to increase military spending. The visit also saw the signing of a rare earths deal aimed at reducing dependence on China, with the two leaders celebrating a “golden age” in the Japan-US alliance.
