At least 21 people were killed in a road accident in central Mexico, according to a local official.

The accident of three vehicles occurred on the highway between Cuacnopalan and Oaxaca in Puebla state on Wednesday morning, said Samuel Aguilar Pala, a local government official.

Pala said that 18 people died on the scene and that three others died later in the hospital.

Several others have been injured and receive medical care, he wrote on X.
