Son of Pulwama martyr, Rahul Soreng selected for Haryana U19; Virender Sehwag says: ‘It has been my privilege’

Rahul Soreng, whose father was martyred in the Pulwama attack, has earned a place in the Haryana under-19 cricket team, receiving praise from former Indian cricket opener Virender Sehwag.Since 2019, Rahul has been studying at Sehwag International School. Following the Pulwama attack, Sehwag had introduced free education and boarding in his school for the children of the martyrs.“Congratulations to Rahul Soreng for being selected in the Haryana Under-19 team. Since his brave father achieved martyrdom in Pulwama, it has been a privilege for me to support Rahul and I am extremely proud of his journey,” Sehwag posted on X.Rahul’s cricket journey includes being selected for the Haryana Under-16 team in the Vijay Merchant Trophy last December. He had earlier played for the Haryana U14 team.“I feel so privileged that Rahul Soreng, son of Pulwama Martyr Shaheed Vijay Soreng ji, who joined Sehwag International School in 2019 and has been with us for 5 years, has been selected in the Haryana Under-16 team for the Vijay Merchant Trophy. Few things give more joy. Thanks to our great soldiers,” Sehwag had shared on Instagram.Rahul’s cricketing achievements include being selected in the Jhajjar U-19 district cricket team, alongside Aditya Pandey and Shivam Anand, for an inter-district match against Karnal earlier this year.Sehwag had earlier shared updates on the training of children of Pulwama martyrs in his school.“Son of heroes!
